Default Henchies "Stay" Command

After venturing into SF with just henchies last night I'm thinking it'd be nice to be able to tell them all to stay in one spot like you can with certain NPC's. This way you could actually go and lure out small groups of enemies without them following and aggroing everything in sight.

There is a way to do this, but you need at least one other person with you unfortunately:

When there's no attack underway, the henchies follow - and keep following - the first person who moves.

Example - Let's say that there are two players standing still with a group of henchies and there is a mob they want to aggro to the north of them. One player is going to be the puller, and the other one will anchor the bots.

As soon as the anchor begins to run south, the bots will follow them for as long as they continue to move. The puller meanwhile, MUST stay still until the bots have all begun to follow the anchor for a little bit. If the puller begins to move north too soon, they'll sometimes get the last few bots in the group breaking off to follow them instead of the anchor.

As long as the player with the bots prances around in place (strafing quickly side-to-side is all that's needed) and doesn't stop moving, the bots will remain locked onto that player and ignore the puller.

The puller can now freely aggro mobs back to the waiting party.

Works best if you aggro using the aggro circle rather than with an attack though, as sometimes the bots will decide to follow the attack no matter what

Lightbulb Add-on henchmen suggestion

Speaking of henchies...how about this as add-on suggestion?
If player dies, (s)he will be randomly assigned to control one of available henchmen. You can control their attack and skills, but you can not drop their weapons and etc.
You will have control of henchmen till someone rez you.

Obviously, the leader has to allow that option before starting a mission...so that no one can just play around with henchies..doing nothing and unhelpful things.

Not sure if this has been posted before but I normally lure small groups with henchies by using an attack spell and not initiating a melee attack. The attack spell can be cast on an enemy while it is outside the aggro circle. Once cast I just run back with the henchies and the enemy (group) following. Because a melee attack was not initiated the henchies just follow me as normal and when the enemy patrol has been separated out from everything else I just turn and attack.

Works really well.

At least with henchies someone is in charge unlike with all player groups where every1 can pretty much run around all over the place.

A "Stay" command over other players would be nice sometimes

There has been an enormous amount of times where I'm the first one to die and there are 7 hencies left. The fight was then lost because the dumb ass hencies dont attack the same target. They all seem to pick a target each, wasting time untill there all dead when the fight could have easily been won. I'm not bothered about having to control the hencies. But please make them a little more intelligent. PLEASE!!!!

Perhaps being able to still call targets when your dead..Maybe thats a stupid idea but something like that needs to be introduced to the game.

would be a good idea.. shouldnt imagine it would be too hard to do.

I figured that the first henchy you add to the group could be like a captain.. if you could issue your orders to the captain (like you would to the spirit npc's in the ascention missions) all the other henches can just be told to follow the captain, instead of you by default

Thanks for resurrecting this old but popular idea. Please keep up the discussion in the new 'consolidated' thread:
